The flat is furnished in neutral colours and many of the original features (including the floors, parquet and granite tiles,) have been retained. Being on the first floor of a seven storey building, for much of the day the flat is in the shade and if one closes the shutters and leaves open the full length windows, one can return after a hard day on the beach to the cool and tranquility of the flat. The flat also contains two powerful but silent fans which provide a current of cool air should the temperature rise. There is a lift, slightly reminiscent of a 1930's film set to help with heavy loads, and a small trolley to use when shopping for heavier items; water, beer etc. (A journey of under two hundred yards). The rear of the flat looks out onto a large, mainly enclosed, courtyard comprising gardens,with orange trees, palm trees etc. Both the twin bedroom and kitchen have small balconies. Shopping can be done on the next block in the street where the flat lies, (Rue d'italie) ; three butchers, a small fruit and vegetable market and a medium size supermarket. Ten minutes walk away is a quality supermarket with excellent meat, fish and delicatessen (the 'Fortnum and Mason's of Nice'), the most major shopping street of Nice with an excellent shopping mall, and also a vibrant street market with a large variety of food and other goods. The pedestrian area nearby and the promenade both provide a variety of nightlife to suit most tastes and away from the tourist areas, one can eat very well and find very good value.
